What will therapy look like with Kristina?
Culturally attuned and in-depth therapy for individuals seeking to enrich their sense of self, embrace self-acceptance, and nurture meaningful connections.
I know life can be difficult. I know it’s not always easy to show up for yourself, let alone others in your life. You might feel pulled in multiple directions, each task or responsibility vying for your attention. Sometimes, even making a simple decision takes effort. I get it, and I am here to help you unpack.
I am straightforward in my approach and I take pride in being authentic and candid in my practice. I often use humor and sarcasm with my clients, but always with kindness and respect for your individual needs.
I am empathetic, non-judgmental, and intuitive. I practice from a psychodynamic perspective - this means that, together, we will work to understand what is going on in your mind, and uncover the unconscious parts in order to provide you insight on your views on relationships, experiences, and the world around you. We will explore how that affects your preferences, behaviors, and motivations.
I draw from Attachment Theory, which helps me conceptualize your relationships with others in your life. I’ll combine this approach with other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT).
Above all, I always consider the role of racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities and background in your lived experience. I practice with a critical lens that considers current social issues and historical events that can affect your individual identity. I take a social justice stance in my work, which means I consider the powerful social, cultural, and political forces at play in the lives of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and other marginalized communities.
Through our work together, I will help you process feelings of guilt, self-doubt, and worry in order to move toward a path of healing and creating space for balance, inner peace, and life satisfaction.
